The Gen. William Hicks Jackson Agricultural Leadership Award is given by the Tennessee Division Sons of Confederate Veterans to recognize deserving students who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to the field of agriculture and in the classroom. This award honors General William Hicks Jackson, owner and operator of the Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville. He was a pioneer in the field of horse breeding and racing, as well as leader in agriculture in Tennessee. The award is suggested for any student currently enrolled in an agriculture program that has maintained a high GPA and taken on leadership responsibilities within the agriculture program and is presented by a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
